I've just moved into a new office space in Manchester and the floor-to-ceiling windows are incredible, but my laptop screen is impossible to see between 2pm and 5pm. The glare is unbearable and I'm worried about my skin sitting here all day. Is there anything I can do without blocking the view?

The breaking point came when my laptop screen became completely useless every afternoon in my Manchester office. I'd end up squinting, tilting the screen, and eventually just giving up and working from the sofa where my back would ache. I tried repositioning my desk, closing the blinds, even wearing a hat indoors like an idiot. Nothing worked. Then a mate who runs a gallery mentioned they use specialist UV film to protect paintings, and I thought – why not try that? I found https://www.tintfit.com/shop/uv-protection and ordered a roll. The film blocks over 99% of harmful UV rays but is completely invisible – you genuinely can't tell it's there. Installation took twenty minutes with soapy water and a squeegee. Now the light still pours in beautifully, but the harsh glare is gone. No more squinting, no more indoor tan, and my screen is perfectly visible all day. The room even feels cooler. Such a simple fix, but it's made working here actually enjoyable.
