I'm no craft-person or artisan, but I needed glue gun for a little mini(5ft)-parade-float" project for a corporate fun" event I got volunteered into...which essentially requires cutting and gluing lots of cardboard box pieces together; though a glue gun seems handy in general for many kinds of DIY purposes.
What you should know:
- I researched, and debated, on whether a full" or mini" size gun would be better in general. I chose the full size gun for more general utility purposes. Even for my little project, I'm glad I did. It doesn't take much use-up a glue stick, so I'm glad I chose the gun with the larger sticks. (Tip: I learned quickly to always keep an extra stick within reach to throw in midstream").
- The two power settings are nice. 60/100w doesn't appear to be the hottest glue gun available, but it also appears to be a lot hotter than the glue guns generally available at the big-box stores. I'm no expert on this, but apparently this is for different mediums (surfaces-to-be-glued), and also (naturally) affects the viscosity of the glue. I just used the 60w for attaching the cardboard pieces, and it flows/adheres/holds the pieces fine.
- In my research, drip seems to be a concern with these things, but I don't understand this. Regardless of the gun/tip design, it melts glue, reducing the glue viscosity, and it has a hole. Maybe the guns that are more level-at-rest" are better for this, but my general assumption here is that this has more to do with the gun temperature, or even the glue, than the gun/tip design. So I just place the gun on a surface not susceptible to hot glueif it drips, I just let it cool and pick it off. That said, in my use at the 60w setting, I did not see any dripping during use. Also, the little metal flip-stand is stable-enough", but itsometimesget in the way of gluing, requiring that I flip it back to glue, and the return it forward to rest.
- The glue is essentially a soft plastic. It's pliable/"bendy" and you can easily score/indent it with a fingernail. The glue seems to adhere to surfaces just fine (i.e. cardboard, my table, and my fingers), but sensibly, please do not to hang anything of significant weight on a glue hold (despite what infomercials show).
- I don't expect to ever have/use a different tip for this gun, but the screw on brass tip seems versatile for this. (I also haven't needed to remove itso I can't comment any further on this featureexcept to say that the brass tip is easy to clean/remove-glue).
- For me, who will use a glue gun on occasion, the binder-style case is a really nice feature. I've already ordered more glue sticks, so having a convenient way to store the gun and the glue sticks together is nice. The case has elastic straps for the glue sticks, but also seems roomy enough to stuff it" with more.
Bottom Line:
This gun works welland I'm glad I got the full" size.
This glue gun is such an improvement over my old one which would take forever to heat up. Everything you need is included in its attractive zippered case, including multiple sticks of glue that are neatly held together with Velcro, as is the gun itself. This is my go-to method for repairing or fixing many things, even ceramic repair which even though not truly repaired, the pieces can be put together by gluing from the inside. I did this with a favorite beautiful cache pot which had broken into about 30 or more pieces. This glue gun is certainly great value for the money and makes quick repairs to many things and is useful for craft projects of many kinds.
This is a great glue gun. It works as it should. Light weight. Great durability. Once you plug it in and it heats up with the glue in the gun ready to go a bit may come out but it dries pretty quickly. It comes out smoothly and I love that it has a little stand when you let it down. It has a comfortable hold on your hand. It comes with a cute case for all its belongings and with enough glue to use and last. Great use for crafts and other handy things. 10/10 recommend !
I used this hot glue gun to assemble a headband with fabric, and it worked quite well for my purposes although I required some practice to get the method right. I chose this one because I thought the multiple heat settings would be useful. I found that the 100W setting was much hotter than I needed to get the glue at the right consistency, so 60W was my preferred option. Dispensing the glue can at times be a bit uneven: when you depress the plunger, it does not dispense the glue evenly as you depress. In the beginning, it will not dispense at all, but once you hit the middle, it dispenses all of it in one glob. With practice, you can get used to the dispensing method and get better control over the evenness of the dispensing. It isn't the best hot glue gun I've ever used, but it will do the job for the price.
When I ordered this I didn't notice that it comes with a really nice carry case. I especially appreciate the spot for spare glue sticks. I currently use one of those miniature hot glue guns that is only able to squeeze out a small amount of hot glue at a time. The extra glue sticks get separated from the small gun and are hard to locate.
I strongly recommend that when you use hot melt glue that you keep a bowl of cool water nearby. Although, you have no intention of getting any on your hand or fingers, you'll thank me when you do.
It's a nice full size Glue gun. Took about 2 minutes for glue to squeeze through. I just used the 100w setting. It has a nice case with zip tied glue sticks. I'm just tightening the zips as I use sticks.
The only change I might have liked is a power switch. That would have made it a real standout from anything I've owned before.
For everything included, it's still a good value.
Hope this helps have a great day!!
