I'm only a student in a basic welding class, but these are working out great for me. I accidentally used my gloved hand to hold down my workpiece while brushing the slag off and smelled the leather singing. I didn't feel the heat inside at all.
They were fairly stiff out of the box but with a couple hours work have softened up quite a bit. The gauntlets are wide enough that my jean jacket over a long sweatshirt still fit in comfortably. I got the largest size, and they fit my big hands quite well. Inside the leather layer is a kind of denim. The hand portion has an additional white insulation layer.
These gloves literally saved my hand, I almost cut my finger real bad on an unprotected angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it, but by the grace of Jesus Christ my hand is in one piece. These gloves are super durable and heat resistant. I can pick up my weld samples without the need for a vise grip even after a couple of passes. The length of the gloves ensures that your wrists and forearms are protected from sparks or molten slag. Overall just great gloves for SMAW welding. So much so that I bought 2 more pairs after the first purchase. They make a great addition to your welding arsenal or even a great gift to a fellow welder. Also the price for the protection you get is unreal.
These are much more stylish and functional than oven mitts or potholders. Whether pulling a cast iron pan out of the oven or baking a loaf of bread, these gloves are perfect for the job.
These welding gloves seem to be great welding gloves that feature a little longer arm protection than many other welding gloves. The fingers are a little tight, but they seem to fit well enough. These gloves seem to be about as thick as my other welding gloves and offer better protection than many other welding gloves while still offering plenty of dexterity.
Overall, these welding gloves seem to be well made gloves that will work well for hobbyist welders or for professional use.
My wife has been wanting to weld again ever since taking a college class in it, so we finally got a little welder, and these to go along with it.
You can tell by their smell they are definitely made of leather. Not too strong, just a nice leather smell.
They are nice and warm, with a jean-like material inside the arm part and a fur-like material inside the hand part. They are thick, but flexible enough for her to use her fingers somewhat. I can barely squeeze my XXL hands inside them and can't flex the fingers much at all.
You could use them for BBQ's and other things as well. They'd even keep your hands warm in the snow in a pinch. There is a drawstring around the wrist, and it is easy to use even when you're adjusting it with gloved hands.
They are very protective. To test them, my wife pulled some canning jars out of boiling water and didn't feel any heat. Though we don't recommend using them for this.
Impressive gloves for the price.
Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.
Perfect fit (large). I bought them to use for cooking and baking
(primarily baking)and they are perfect for handling 350 to 450 degree oven dishes and cast iron ware and not feel any heat. I'm sure they could handle higher temps but 450 has been my limit so far. Excellant forearm coverage too in case of a splatter or oil pop. Easily grasp the sides or handle of the cookware. Feel soft but thick and sturdy. Very pleased with these gloves and would buy again. Overall a nice product for a decent price.
