I bought this basically for the pockets for work. I work as a delivery driver most days of the week and I like having a hi-vis that has pockets to store things. This one is great even though it's a bit heavier than the standard ones we have at work.
Only other thing I will say against it is that it's starting to fray - one of the black linings near the arms is starting to come off after only four months of using (but with fairly continuous use).
If you only need it for a few days out of the week it should still be pretty good for you, but I might reconsider if you need it for everyday/all day use.
(edited on October 29, 2025) - Still like it but it's frayed more in less than a year - bought it originally in March. I've even changed my shifts and drive two out of five days but I drive all day so use the vest all day those two day (I also use it if I work in store going in and outside).
I ordered a different (cheaper) vest that I don't like and I'm thinking seriously about ordering another one (or two) of these again.
Also. I don't think it's too heavy anymore. It's rather comfortable.
Ordered this because crews never stock size small. I'm 5'10" 150lbs and this is still large. Fits like was made for a man 5'10" and 180lbs or so. Length is good, width is too much. Could lose two inches of fabric for a better fit waist and stomach. Everything is fitted for the heavy-set these days. No smaller size available.
Big pockets too small for a carpenter's square and slot pockets too loose to hold a carpenter's pencil in place when bending over. You're gonna lose pencils if you also happen to do actual work in this. Sharpies and pens hold fine. Radio pocket fits smaller radios ok.
After about 3 weeks daily use and a variety of work tasks, I'd rate these 4 stars and I would recommend. They've held up well enough and the fit isn't sooo large that I'm drowning in loose hi viz that becomes a safety hazard, but a little large, even with 3 layers for cold weather in Autumn 2024.
The pockets add functionality to this highly visible safety vest. The stitching is good. I like that there is a front zipper. As a recess supervisor I can put lightweight items in the various pockets like hand sanitizer, bandaids, etc. I would not recommend heavy-weight items. I also have a strap to hold a walker-talkie. The vest is lightweight and more breathable than the solid options. It is not stretchy; I recommend buying a size up to fit over a light jacket. The only negative is that the pockets have Velcro to keep them closed. I would prefer flaps without Velcro.
I normally wear a 2x vest but keep a 3x for wearing over a jacket . I got a 4x in this one just in case it ran small and I'm glad I did . It'll work over a light jacket but not a heavy coat like I'd hoped for . I'll just have to continue to use the work supplied elcheapo for that .
The stitching is top notch with no loose threads or anything I need to fix right out of the package .
The zipper is well done and looks like it's gonna take the punishment I put my vests through on a daily basis at work .
My favorite feature is how bright the orange is . It will definitely help me stand out at work as needed .
I doubt it'll be super comfortable this summer because even though it is mesh it's still another layer I'm wearing in the humidity and heat .
I like the style of the pockets and overall look and the hand pockets are great for putting my gloves in when I'm not wearing them . It's an easy to use combination that's going to enhance my safety at work .
My family recently adopted a puppy and since they require walks in the dark sometimes, I bought us one of these. It seems durable (against puppy jumps and teething mishaps) and the reflective areas do the job. In fact, my neighbors say the reflection catches their Ring doorbell cameras whereas before I wore this vest I flew under their radar. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it runs smaller than normal sizing. Definitely go 1 or 2 sizes up. We wish I would have went 2 sizes up especially when winter hits and we have bulky coats. The pockets are large and can easily accommodate waste bags, my phone, and a flashlight with plenty of room to spare. I ordered the yellow one and the color is very bright which is what I was looking for.
My neighborhood has ONE light. It is quite dark here by 5pm. I have a dog who frequently needs to go out. Several of my neighbors have told me they didn't see me until they were a foot away. OK OK so I ordered this. It came a day earlier than promised. It's super easy to put on. Certainly NOT a fashion statement, but the reflecting strips really show up. The pocket is large enough for my cell phone. It's very lightweight .
I got a size medium and there's plenty of room when it gets colder here so I'll be able to wear it over a coat.
