Reviews
After seeing the extremely negative review, I was ready for anything.
To my pleasant surprise, this rain jacket was as robust and well-made as I could hope for. Here are my observations along with pictures to show the reflective stripes.
PROS
? heavy weight material (for a rain coat)
? waterproof (I ran the faucet on the sleeve for 30 seconds with no leakage.)
? robust zipper
? heavy duty snaps
? lots of highly reflective stripes, stitched on.
? 2-way zipper useful to get at your pants since the coat is so long.
? Wrist Velcro tightens up well to keep long sleeves off your hands.
CONS
? The sizes run to huge size. I'm 5'8" with a beer belly and a SMALL fit me just right. waist and arms. My 5' wife would disappear in it.
? Pockets are not "large". They comfortably fit my hands, nothing more.
? More pockets would be nice.
Bottom line
This appears a quality rain jacket that will keep you dry and safe from cars.
This is NOT a fireman's turnout coat that will protect you from flames.
I liked all the features in this product.
The color. It is a strong, vivid yellow/green recognized safety color
Double zipper. You can adjust the bottom as well so it gives you more leg room
Reflective strips. You get noticed at night
Size. It is long and big enough to wear on top of jacket or other warm clothes
Hood, adjustable wrists, etc.
The material works great and cover the whole body keeping the water out.
I go for walks year round no matter the weather conditions. I needed a jacket to wear over other jackets for when temps 30 to 50 degrees and it's raining that was also visible since in fall gets dark by 5 pm. (my gear for these temps wasn't rain proof).
At $29.99 at time of purchase this checked all my needs. Now I'm 5'8" female but like to wear Men's XL t-shirt (I don't like skin tight clothing and my shoulder are wide that women's clothing to tight in shoulders).
I read the reviews and heard that this ran big. I was confused as to what size to get because almost everything I buy is XL. I found review that seemed to be around my body type so I went with size Medium ( I was afraid to order a size small).
The medium is big on me but since I'm wearing it over coats I'm okay with that ( in future I would order size small).
The shelves are too long but the coat has Velcro at sleeves you can tighten ( I don't bother since I wear it in rain I'm okay with sleeves covering my hands and keeping them dry).
The coat comes down to mid-calf on me but once again I'm okay with this as when it's cold and raining the coat keeps me dry.
The coat isn't breathable so moisture and heat will build up on the inside, because of this I usually use just the snap closures and not the zipper. However, I like the fact that the zipper is a 2 way zipper zips from both directions which helps with temperature control.
What I don't like is the drawstring that they use for the hood (it is useless). For some unknown reason they put an elastic drawstring in the hood so if you try to tighten hood all that happens is the drawstring expands without actually tightening your hood around your face. Now for me this really isn't an issue as I wear a billed baseball hat ( I wear glasses and billed baseball hat keeps my glasses from getting rained on) under the hood and just snap the hoods neck
snaps. But for those needing hood tightened this drawstring won't do the trick for you.
Overall I'm really happy with my purchase keeps me dry and cars are able to see me on my hour long evening walks.
This is a big long rain coat and it's definitely bright and reflective. The sleeves are big and roomy. They adjust in tighter with Velcro which is good. If you wear this out in the cold you will definitely need a jacket under it because there is no insulation or warmth. The hood is tucked into the collar that can be unrolled for you to wear. It is on the outside so the rain will not come in the gap on your neck. It seems to be well made and has a double zipper so you can zip it up and then zip up from the bottom if you need to get to something but want to keep the top zipped up.
I like this coat a lot.My husband uses it while working and while he walks the dog in the evening.Great length and the material is comfortable.
I received this waterproof rain jacket, with safety-themed coloring and reflective features to it, just in time to try it out, during a local rain storm. The trenchcoat worked well against the stormy weather, and it served me well, in being made of a mostly water-repellent fabric. I managed to ward off most effects of hypothermia, throughout a rainy night and early morning, spent outdoors, as I was homeless, at the time. The jacket itself is an eye-catching piece, being made of bright, yellow-neon artificial fabric, with reflective adornments to it, as well. Someone commented, "there's no way you'd get hit by a car, with that jacket on!" All in all, I like this jacket, although it's perhaps too much, for everyday usage - it's mostly good for rainy weather, or perhaps for dark nights out on the town.
