First off - I had a bit of trouble figuring out the sizes in the chart. It wasn't until I laid my old coat on the floor that I understood what size I had, and what I needed. The size measurements shown are of the actual garment, some in circumference. The length top to bottom is true, but for the chest, you double the flat measurement of the front. My old one, a size smaller, read just like the chart said for that size. This jacket does, too.
This jacket is made of 100% Polyester and is labeled as waterproof. It has a quilted lining, and a felt lined collar from the feel of it. The front is zippered with a 2" overlap and snaps. There's two chest pockets, one zippered, and the other is a cell phone pocket with cover flap - with a clear view ID pocket in front of it. Additionally there are two glove/hand pockets with zippered closures. The left arm has a pen pocket. On the shoulders, there are two straps for handing items: light, badge, anything. The reflective striping really shows up under light. I took a flash picture and you can see the brilliance.
Both the arms and the bottom of the coat have elastic that holds pretty firm. The collar goes pretty high, and maybe because the coat is new, it choked me when the coat was closed up all the way. The arm are plenty long but feel a bit bulky to move around, again maybe because of newness. I'm old with a pot gut, yet it feels comfortable around the middle.
Inside the jacket, the lining is quilted smooth, and easy to slide into. On the left chest inside, there's a pocket of ample space. On the collar is a pocket with a folded up hood inside. The hood itself is thin single layer, and not lined. For me, it's small. It will cover a ball cap, but the sides leave the cheeks exposed even without a cap. It has a draw string closure. I wouldn't consider the hood to be winter wear, maybe a windbreak at best.
Overall, the jacket is built well, has lots of features, and feels warm. For me, it feels stiff and bulky, but is sized pretty good. The hood is of little use if you need this as a raincoat.
This TICONN Hi Vis Rain Jacket is made of quality material. The jacket comes shrink-wrapped and expands when opened. I like the fact it's quilt lined that will keep your warm in cold weather and has a waterproof hood built in. This will come in handy when I'm plowing snow on my tractor and the yellow color with the reflective material will help keep me safe. One thing to keep in mind, order one size larger. I'm 6Ft. and 280lbs. and I normally ware a 2X, I ordered this in 3X and it fit perfect. And there's room enough to ware extra layers underneath. I highly recommend this jacket!
Rain Safety Jacket; small by their chart is still a little big for me?
It is actually just right, IF wearing only a shirt / or heavy shirt.
In other words consider their chart exaggerated; ie. By the chart "small" would be a little big for me, but it fits almost snug. So "small" would be an actual 'small' and ignoring the numbers they have listed. Medium would likely be a normal 'medium'.
Hood is tucked into the collar, elastic on the wrists, sleeves only ride up an inch or so. Elastic on the waist to keep the air in and cold out. Zippered pockets, with a clear chest pocket for ID.
I work as a crossing guard for after school activities at my church and it doesn't matter what the weather is - we still gotta keep the kids safe (so long as it's not a blizzard the activities are going on). I had been using a mesh vest for visibility - simply wearing it over whatever jacket was appropriate for the weather that day. This coat is designed to get wet during inclement weather. While this isn't something I would wear for sub zero temps, if it's warm enough for rain to be falling (and not snow) this coat is great. I'm sure there will be times when it's too warm to be wearing this, but if it's that warm I'm sure I'll be able to deal with a wet vest. I ordered an XL and I'm 6'2" and a large build and this coat fits as I was hoping it would. I really like the hood design that folds up and is kept folded with Velcro, much better than the hoods on some other jackets I own. The reflective bands on this work quite well, too. This is not a $200 brand name winter coat, but for $40 I'm pretty happy with how well this fits and works to do what I ordered it to do.
I got this Ticonn safety jacket to wear while riding my bike on the city streets because there are a lot of car vs bike collisions in my city and I don't want to be one of them. For that purpose, this jacket will serve very well. In the daytime the yellow is very visible, and at nighttime the grey-looking stripes turn bright white when headlights fall upon them, making me very visible to cars at night. I have size Medium which fits fairly well, although the sleeves are not as long as I would prefer, and the chest area is a little bulky for a bike rider, but it will suffice. The jacket has fleece insulation and is very warm, so it's not good for a bike ride on hot days, but it is very good for bike rides on cold, windy, blustery days of which we get many in my city.
In summary, this is a well-made, very visible and warm safety jacket at a very reasonable price.
This safety rain jacket is well made and has pockets in the right places. The liner makes this a great choice for colder weather. Very reflective pattern for safety. Elastic waist band helps keep wind and rain from blowing around. Being a raincoat, the hood is a little small and I wish it had more of a beak of the front. Overall, very happy with this jacket.
